It is late afternoon on December 12th at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. The sun is low in the sky and it catches the deergrass (Muhlenbergia rigens) in the foreground, while the grasses behind have fallen into shadow. I can feel, smell, hear and see the peacefulness of the garden after a long day's work.
This is my entry for the Gardening Gone Wild's September Picture This photo competition. The other pictures that I was considering can be seen in the slide show on my website.
Former native plant garden hotline lady at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, I continue to garden with natives, give talks, do garden consults, and write. Each month I work with other volunteers in the So Pas Nature Park weeding and cleaning up. Get in touch with your home - grow native.
